Christy Sheehy-Bensinger

Bio

Dr. Sheehy is an innovative, passionate, and resourceful leader with 15 years of technical expertise in the optical & ophthalmic engineering realm, numerous scientific publications / invited presentations, and direct clinical research experience with neurodegenerative patient populations at the top research institutions of UC Berkeley and UCSF. She is the Founder/CEO of C. Light Technologies, Inc. - a neurotech and AI startup that has created the world's most accurate retinal eye-tracking device (the product of Dr. Sheehy's dissertation work) combined with advanced statistical methods/machine learning to assess neurological health and treatments. Ultimately, C. Light is the world's most sensitive 10-second eye-tracking scan for brain health and drug efficacy testing. Additionally, Dr. Sheehy successfully acted as the Principal Investigator for two NIH small business grants - an SBIR Phase I grant entitled, “Retinal eye-tracking as a diagnostic tool for traumatic brain injury and concussion” and a Phase I STTR grant investigating fixational eye motion as a prognostic and monitoring tool for multiple sclerosis. She has brought in >$5M in venture capital and angel funding to her organization to date, and has a $2.2M NIH SBIR Phase II grant pending for October 2022.
