Put an end to body dysmorphia and eating disorders
An app that connects students with existing mental health departments to help track, goal-orient, and record progress in terms of eating disorder recovery. There will also be sections to a journal (password protected), and a forum wherein students can send in stories/artwork/etc that will be published (after moderators apply appropriate trigger warnings) to help build community. Anonymity optional. Students can connect and communicate directly with the required mental health professional (either on campus or externally) via the app and can send a summary report of their progress via the app. Further, this concept can turn into "chapters" across college campuses to involve speaker series, etc with resources provided by us to increase conversation across the subject.
95% of individuals suffering from an eating disorder are between the ages of 12-25. Most universities are not equipped to support struggling students, and the lack of institutional awareness increases triggers and issues in students and can cause their eating habits to worsen. A lack of resources, inadequate knowledge, and the difficult nature of eating disorder recovery add to this issue. It should not be this way. EDs rise from 23.4% to 32.6% in women and 7.8% to 25% in men on college campuses.
We link college students with therapists via an app that features a customizable dashboard that helps therapists better connect with and treat college students, allowing them to reflect, keep track of their goals, and reach out for help. We have on board eating disorder specialists and nutritionists that would assist the college adequately help via a host of resources. We also will create "chapters" to encourage a sense of community and destigmatize this difficult conversation.
