Capture is the future of decentralized energy, bringing an off-grid automated energy management system accessible from anywhere in the world.
Problem
Nearly a billion people live without access to electricity. 3.5 billion people live “under the grid”- without constant reliable energy. That accounts for 45% of the world’s population and includes remote areas, islands, and locations prone to natural disasters. Despite the potential of renewable energy, UN reports on SGD 7 have shown that progress in electrification has slowed, and international financial flows have declined due to the challenge of accurately reflecting trends in rural electrification and reaching those who are hardest to reach.
There is a need for a new paradigm of energy independence. Research shows that if people were offered options that would truly meet their needs and engage them in identifying and planning their own provisions, then success in providing renewable energy services could become a reality.
To harvest this potential, change is needed to expand data-sharing, create competitive energy markets, and reform utility business models.
Opportunity

‘Capture’ directly tackles UNSDG Goal 7 head-on with a bottom-up approach, creating a direct link between households, renewable energy providers, and community leaders, where the commodity is a clean, reliable energy supply.
Capture is composed of three parts to achieving an ecosystem of a self-determined, democratized energy market:
(1) An Automated Energy Needs Assessment Tool
(2) An off-grid digital energy marketplace
(3) An off-grid energy data system.
Our Objectives:

(2) Increase energy access by providing a reliable decision-making framework to homeowners
(3) build connections to clean energy providers
(4) Drive investment in clean energy to remote areas
