Simplifying and Optimizing Golf Course Management and Design
Developing software tools to aid in golf course design, redesign, and grounds management by ingesting topography, weather, hydrological, and operational data. Recommending course layouts, water, grass, tree management, staffing needs, and operations scheduling.
Golf course management is a very manual industry, involving lots of learned experience, and using very little technology. Many courses struggle with managing their grounds efficiently, and can be impacted by unforseen weather events (droughts, flooding, high winds) and unpredictable labor markets. This industry spends $11-16bn annually on course upkeep, and an additional ~$500m on course design/construction and redesign/reconstruction.
Software based toolset utilizing optimization (mixed-integer optimization), 3-D modelling, predictive algorithms, and potentially applications of generative AI to aid golf courses in managing their grounds
