Idea in Health Care

Introduction

We are Soldiers, leaders, patients and people who have lived the grind, persevered through injuries and struggled through recovery. We have felt the cost of running the human weapon system to failure. We care deeply about those who continue to serve and believe taking care of people is a national security priority. Readiness is lived daily and the impact felt for life, which is why we’re building the next evolution of holistic health for the force. A data-driven, scalable and Soldier-first platform that provides recommended guidance and enables decision making through the 5 domains of Soldier readiness. We are developing a SaaS platform to aggregate health data and readiness metrics for the Department of Defense (DOD) holistic health and fitness initiatives.

Problem

Operational readiness and sustained lethality for the DoD are undermined by fragmented and siloed health data across wearables, labs, apps, and medical systems. Despite the Army’s Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) initiative—addressing physical, mental, spiritual, nutritional, and sleep domains—soldiers and leaders lack a unified, predictive platform. Current consumer tools (Oura, Garmin, Apple Watch, Whoop) only capture short-term data or trends and fail to deliver an actionable, common operating picture for both individuals and command. Additionally, data collected by H2F teams and other programs is rarely used for predictive analytics concerning injury risk, readiness, return to duty timelines, and more at the operational level. This has created a significant capability gap, where leaders know more about the status of their weapons and equipment. Military leaders know everything about the readiness of their drones. The time is now to know the readiness of the people operating them.

Opportunity

Create a web portal and flexibility to launch an app that streamlines data across fragmented sources to deliver personalized wellness insights, track Soldier performance across H2F domains to support leadership decisions with predictive analytics. This can be addressed through building a secure, DoD-wide Human Performance Intelligence Layer that unifies real-time data from wearables, lab results, clinical systems, and self-reporting across all five H2F domains, creating a holistic readiness dashboard accessible to both soldiers and leaders. The dashboard will implement predictive analytics and AI-driven models that transform daily data streams into actionable forecasts for injury risk, burnout, and underperformance—delivering true “left-of-boom” interventions. An interactive, role based dashboard will be created, providing a soldier-facing app for personal guidance and actionable health nudges, plus a leader-facing common operating picture with readiness/risk flags, unit trends, and resource allocation support. The system will launch in staged pilots with PEO Soldier and targeted brigade(s), capturing results on readiness, retention, injury reduction, and overall operational performance. The system will meet the DOD where it is currently at, leverage existing wearable companies and training solutions for a robust data set.
