Homer Track

Idea in Software

Introduction

Homer Track is a software tool that allows homebuilders, their contractors, and the home owner to have a greater level of visibility, transparency, and comprehension of job costing.

Problem

The current homebuilding process is organized chaos. From the time new land is broken to when an home-owner moves into a track home, close to 100 people have worked on or in that home. Over that conveluted and extended process, home builders, their contractors, and the end customer has a minimal understanding of who's working on what, when they're done, how they're going to be paid, and how behind are they in the process. Contractors have no comprehension of job costing actuals due to non-existant API calls, pen/paper processing, and job batching weekly.

Opportunity

The proposed solution includes the following:

  1. Development of an application that allows field tracking capabilities, inclusive but not limited to: job descriptions, schematics/CAD drawings, labor rates, product descriptions, real time tracking of progress and location, and in/out communication with installers/team leads and the project management teams. This data is synthesized/batched and uploaded for the home builder's tracking visibility as well as the contractors job actuals costing (pushed to general ledger once job is completed) for real job actuals.
  2. Develop a payroll processing functionality that allows HR/payroll to download/upload
    1. The current process takes 1/2 an FTE to complete every week.
  3. Develop a tracking mechanism for the end home owner to have visibility into the progress of their home's construction. Allowing for upsell opportunties from the homebuilder and contractors.
