SamWise
Connecting teachers and students through conversation
Introduction
SamWise is a tool that helps instructors connect with each student in their class by converting class material into mini oral exams. SamWise faciliates an oral conversation with students based on PDFs, powerpoints, etc. (could even be a reading assignment or an essay, lab report, etc.) and then provides feedback to teachers evaluating students' answers for accuracy and content. SamWise also provides class-wide feedback so teachers can build better relationships with students and optimize their lessons.
Problem
Instructors, especially virtual instructors, have a difficult time tracking student learning. This is increasingly difficult as students learn to integrate generative AI into their schoolwork.
Opportunity
SamWise enables students to develop their communcation skills while demonstrating their knowledge about reading and writing assignments. Teachers create "conversation assignments" in SamWise that adapt to a student's answers, offering a personalized means of assessment. SamWise then returns individual and class-level insights about what students know, giving teachers rich insight into how to address learning gaps a student or class might have.
