Introduction

Our project aims to address a shortcoming in the stent market - where pediatric cardiologists have to use adult-sized stents and reto-fit them for pediatric applications. We offer a medical-grade 3D printer which can print patient-specific cardiac stent implants in nitonol. The printer also comes with a software package which accepts medical imaging data (CT/angiogram scan) and outputs a 3D model of a stent to fit that target artery. This 3D model would then be sent to the printer, and it would be ready for a procedure within a few hours. 


Problem

Pediatric cardiologists lack appropriately sized stents, often resorting to modifying adult ones—leading to clinical risks and poor fit.


Opportunity

In-hospital 3D printing platform that produces custom, patient-specific pediatric stents on demand, run by a technician from our company. A software will also be provided that takes patient CT scan or angiogram as an input and automatically sizes a stent model to fit that target artery. The stent model would be automatically sent to the 3D printer on site in the cath lab.
