Introduction
K-12 teachers are experiencing burnout at unprecedent rates and are unable to provide and effectively maintain a personalized relationship with their students. They are rarely equipped with the resources they need to manage a classroom, personalize the learning experience, and provide meaningful guidance to students who are struggling. Students have varying strengths and weaknesses; one teacher cannot manage each student’s experience effectively, and a one-size-fits-all approach is not effective.
Problem
Teachers spend over 35% of their time grading papers and are unable to provide and effectively maintain a personalized relationship with their students. A generative AI grading assistant can amplify their teaching potential and help them create the personalized learning environment students deserve.
Opportunity
Our vision is to build a teacher's personal, AI-enabled grader and lesson-planner that delivers actionable, individualized feedback to students. We are building a Generative AI transformer-based model to generate coherent and contextually relevant text feedback on assignments. It will be trained to define competency benchmarks by class year and subject (e.g., 3rd grade English). Our platform allows for teachers to leverage previously graded assignments to inform the model and help it “speak their language.” It will also intake class recordings that can be uploaded to provide further data on teacher’s instruction style and content of curriculum.
