Introduction
Through industry experience in pharmaceuticals, our team realized the need for a secure and reliable method of transferring and editing internal Excel Sheets.
Problem
While there are other solutions to sharing internal documents, they don't have the security that meets the sensitivity needs of this industry. Additionally, current solutions don't meet the industry need for individual accountability through an edit log. Other industries, such as the financial industry, require the same need for highly secure document sharing and editing that is seen in Pharmaceuticals.
Opportunity
To address the issue described above, we propose creating a software with version control to securely manage Excel documents shared within a company. Our software will be secure as it will contain all of a company's internal Excel documents in one encrypted platform. This platform will require authentication for all employees, as well as individual credentials giving employees access to specific documents relevant to individual work. Through this platform, users will work from a local copy of these Excel documents to make necessary edits. When users are finished with their edits, their local copy will be pushed through a CI/CD pipeline and then merged to a master copy upon approval from their supervisor or other specified approver. All changes will be recorded corresponding to an employee's identification and the local copy can be retrieved at any point, as well as reverted from the master copy. There is no limit to the number of local copies that can be on various individual devices.
